It is a while since I have introduced a new quote – to inspire and uplift
That is the intention.
I know that I myself like to harness inspirational quotes for difficult times in my life.
Last time we featured the unsurpassable Mary Oliver. This time she is equaled by her brother, Walt Whitman:
I celebrate myself, and sing myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
I loaf and invite my soul,
” Song of Myself”
I like to end on a comma ….,
How does this speak to you?
The opening line speaks to me of wildness and freedom. Of crystalline, snowy peaks and cool mountain air. I am a golden eagle riding on the currents of wind.
What is stopping us?
From celebrating ourselves so.
What outdated rules are we still obeying?
Are you still believing what they told you?
Because you are filled with the same potential, brimming with the same wonder and brilliance, as every other human being on this planet. We belong to one another. Your success is mine. My bounty is yours. I invite your soul to loaf with that – sit with it, lie with it, loll with it. Let it infuse you. Feel it.
Can you feel it?
I would love to know.
Feel free to tell me all
In the comments below.
(I’m a poet and I don’t know it. Are you)?
Much love and loafing
